Your child's world stays home.
These tools were built for our own daughter first, so we made the privacy choices we wanted for her. Here is the plain-language version of what that means for your family.
Almost everything, by design.
There is no account to create with us, and no server of ours that your family's data passes through. Each tool installs and runs on your own machine.
- Your child's photos, writing, lessons, choices, and history live in one folder on your computer.
- Once your content is made, the tools work offline. No connection is required to use them day to day.
- There is no analytics, no tracking, and no usage reporting back to us. We do not know that you installed anything, and we like it that way.
- Every line of code is open source under MPL-2.0, so anyone you trust can check these claims for themselves.
When something does reach out, you turn it on, and you can see why.
A small number of features can talk to an outside service. Each one is optional, off unless you choose it, and limited to the least it needs.
Premium voices (ElevenLabs)
If you want higher-quality speech, you can add your own ElevenLabs key. When a voice is generated, the text to be spoken is sent to ElevenLabs to turn into audio. That audio is cached on your computer so the same phrase is not sent twice. If you never add a key, the tools use your computer's built-in voices and nothing is sent.
AI helpers (bring your own key)
Optional AI features are bring-your-own-key and clearly labeled. When you use one, the specific text of your request goes to the AI provider you chose, under your own account with them. Nothing is sent unless you start one of these features, and you can leave them switched off.
Weather
The Morning Outfit Picker checks the day's weather so the choices make sense for going outside. That check needs a general location, not your child's name or anything personal, and it is the only part of that tool that reaches the internet.
In every case, the outside service sees only the small piece of text needed for that one feature. It does not see your child's library, their history, or anything else on your machine.
Your data is yours to keep or to remove.
- Backups are yours. Because everything lives in one folder, you back it up the same way you back up family photos: copy the folder wherever you like.
- Uninstalling a tool never deletes your family's library. The folder stays put until you decide otherwise.
- Deleting your data is simple: delete the folder. There is nothing held anywhere else, so once it is gone from your computer, it is gone.
- Since there is no account and no server of ours, there is nothing for you to close and nothing for us to hold on to.
If something here is unclear, ask.
We would rather explain a detail twice than have a family wonder where their child's words are going. Community discussions open at launch, and the code is public so you never have to take our word for it.
